Tomorrow is Monday. The following day is Tuesday. On that day I return to work from a 10 day vacation. It’s been busy!

Sat Jul 27 - Finished the round robin portion of our season ending slo pitch tournament with 2 wins.

Sun Jul 28 - Fought hard but came up just short in the finals of the slo pitch tournament. So proud of our team! (Photo Courtesy of Brown Design)

Wed Jul 31 - Jay Z & JT’s Legends of the Summer concert at BC Place. One word: WOW!

(Side note: DJ Cassidy [exclusively] played his new track feat. Jessie J & Robin Thicke during his opening set. Apparently it’s a big deal.)

Thu Aug 1 - Spent the day shopping at the Seattle Premium Outlets.

This brings us to tomorrow. The BC Lions host the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. My wife, son and I will be joined by my dad and brother as 3 generations of Ortillan’s attend a football game for the first time. This is pretty neat, as it was my dad (and mom) who took me to my first CFL game when I was a (lot) younger in the 80’s. BC Place used to rock, back in the day! A shame that atmosphere is only a memory. I’ll save my opinions on that for another day.

Hard to believe that my summer vacation is pretty much over. After 10 years of service, I am now entitled to 4 weeks of vacation. After this week, I will be sure to take 2 consecutive weeks at some point, next summer.

Back to the grind and counting down to the next long weekend!

18 pts | 20 asts | 17 rebs (you’re kidding, right?)

Nope. This was Boston Celtics’ PG Rajon Rondo’s stat-line in today’s OT win over the New York Knicks. It was Rondo’s 4th triple-double of the season and his 2nd…this week! Oh, and Boston is shopping this guy to other teams before the trade deadline? C’mon man!

What an entertaining game to start the day. Clutch shot-making by Carmelo Anthony, Jeremy Lin[sanity] and Paul Pierce late in the 4th quarter led to overtime, where the Boston Celtics pulled away for the win.

This was followed by [Los] Lakers defeating [El] Heat in Los Angeles. Kobe Bryant aka The Masked Mamba had his 3rd straight 30+ pt game since donning The Mask after a hard-foul from Heat SG Dwayne Wade at the All-Star Game last Sunday that broke Kobe’s nose and concussed him. The week was filled with questions about whether there would be retribution, but there was none given. (A little disappointing in that regard. Just a little…)

Oh, and one Deron Williams of the New Jersey Nets netted (see what I did there?) a career and team-high 57 points in a victory over the Charlotte Bobcats.

It’s been a long time since I have been this interested in basketball. Silly of me to even consider that I wouldn’t miss this game if the lockout wiped out this whole season. This shortened and condensed NBA schedule has made for some very interesting games lately after a slow start to the season.

Who’s your pick to win the NBA Championship this season?

Graybones: The "Polish Goalline" tactic and the Super Bowl

graydongordian:

On the third to last play of the Super Bowl the New York Giants were penalized for having 12 men on the field. However the Giants largely benefited from the play: The 5-yard penalty put the Patriots at their own 49, but New England lost valuable seconds and was prevented from completing a pass by…

Wow, I absolutely LOVE this! The game hasn’t been the same. Michael Jordan is the only reason I loved basketball growing up as a kid. Beautiful artwork - wish I could find this in print!
